Introduction to Digital Cameras
This 2 1/2 hour class offers a basic introduction to the use and features common to all digital cameras. You will learn how to harness the technology and make it work for you by learning the basics of pixels, resolution, and file formats. Previous experience with a digital camera is not required, but you should have a working knowledge of film based photography. The workshop is conducted in our studio, and each participant will have the chance to practice what they learn with others in the class. Covered topics will be:
- How does digital compare with film ?
- How digital cameras work. Functions common to all cameras.
- How pixels, and resolution are related and how they work together.
- How different file formats determine image quality.
- White balance and basic color management techniques.
- Memory cards and how to get the pictures out of the camera.
- How to prepare a file for output, and different printer types.
- Image editing software. What can be corrected after the exposure.
- How to safely store and manage your images.
